Strikingly, 20% directed callers to their health insurer. However, insurers often can't provide answers yet, as many contracts for the year remain incomplete.

Shopping around pays off—the cost of a glaucoma measurement varies widely, from €16.01 to €219. It's unclear if these rates apply to insured or uninsured patients. Minister Schippers has emphasized the need for cost transparency. Starting November 1, new regulations will require health insurers to disclose treatment costs upfront.
