France now ranks as the sixth most affected country by the COVID-19 outbreak. With deaths steady at 2, confirmed cases hit 130 by the evening of March 1. Two days earlier, the government advanced to stage 2 alert, prohibiting gatherings of more than 5,000 people.
Major events have been canceled, including the Paris half-marathon, Cannes' Mipim real estate fair, and Annecy Carnival. Further cancellations are underway, such as the Livre Paris book fair, while the Louvre Museum has closed its doors temporarily.
Investigations into a cluster in Oise department are ongoing. Crépy-en-Valois' mayor tested positive for coronavirus. He is listing contacts from the past 14 days, remains unhospitalized without fever, and is an asymptomatic carrier.
