According to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), swine flu cases in the Netherlands saw a slight uptick last week.
On average, 6.9 people per 10,000 Dutch residents consulted their GP with flu-like symptoms. Additionally, 24 patients were hospitalized after laboratory-confirmed infections with New Influenza A (H1N1).
Update
As of October 14, a total of 151 patients have been hospitalized, with four fatalities. Notably, 64 percent of those admitted had underlying health conditions.
Last week, four patients required intensive care admission. In total, 23 patients have needed ICU care, with 16 receiving mechanical ventilation.
