56% of Dutch Support Blacklisting Doctors for Medical Errors – Key Survey Insights

A recent survey shows that 56% of Dutch people favor a public blacklist for doctors and specialists who have committed medical errors. This insight comes from research by Porter Novelli and De Vos & Jansen Healthcare, based on responses from over 600 participants.

Three-quarters of respondents recognize that medical professionals perform human work where mistakes can happen. Yet, half believe the government should impose severe penalties for these errors. Confidence in Dutch healthcare remains remarkably high, with 8 in 10 people rating it 7 or higher out of 10.

Transparency is key for many: 54% say clarity on treatment success rates is crucial for building trust in specialists.

This trend aligns with rising patient empowerment. Over three-quarters voice disagreement with a specialist's treatment plan, climbing to 84% with general practitioners. Men report being even more assertive than women in these cases.
