Data from Readly, a leading digital magazine subscription service, reveals that since the March lockdown, Dutch readers have eagerly sought healthy lifestyle tips. The top three health-related searches in the Netherlands: vegan, paleo, and yoga.
Lockdowns offered a rare pause from daily hustle, allowing many to prioritize well-being.

Screen time surged for entertainment during lockdowns, with research showing 66% of Dutch people occasionally scrolling aimlessly on their phones. Yet not all digital time is unproductive—Readly users actively searched health keywords for inspiration, activities, and practical tips.
"The rise in Readly app usage reflects a heightened demand for distraction and leisure amid the COVID-19 crisis," explains Liana de Wit from Readly. "Magazines inform, stimulate the mind, and inspire action—unlike passive social media scrolling."

As COVID-19 restrictions ease, these health searches remain strong, signaling real commitment to better living. Dutch interest in nutrition, fitness, and overall wellness continues to grow.
