A good night's sleep is essential for optimal health, and even a small increase can yield significant benefits—especially during stressful times.
Research shows that gaining just 43 extra minutes of sleep per night can make a profound difference.

This comes from a study conducted by Pennsylvania State University researchers. The experiment involved 53 college students whose blood pressure, heart rate, and other vital metrics were measured at the outset. Participants wore smartwatches to track their sleep patterns accurately.
Over two weeks, students followed their normal sleep routines in the first week, aiming for at least six hours nightly. In the second week, they targeted an additional hour of sleep.
While challenging, two-thirds of participants averaged 43 minutes more sleep per night.

Those extra 43 minutes led to remarkable improvements: students reported feeling fitter, more energetic, and positive, with notable reductions in blood pressure.
Lead researcher Professor Anne-Marie Chang was surprised by the blood pressure results, though she anticipated benefits for energy and mood. Her expertise in sleep science underscores the study's credibility.
