Sanne van Rooij, creator of the blog Living the Green Life, shares her genuine experiences with plant-based eating. While she admits 'vegan' might sound simplistic, her lifestyle delivers real results. She's inspiring thousands via Instagram and her new Easy Vegan cookbook to embrace more plant foods.
Your vegan accounts on Instagram have around 140,000 followers. Does that make you feel like a role model?
'It's a bit daunting! "Role model" feels like too big a title. I'm just sharing my personal experience—vegan eating has truly improved my life. I'm no dietitian or nutritionist, but I'd love for others to benefit too.'
What changes have you noticed from plant-based eating?
'I've struggled with acne-prone skin and chronic congestion. You can still see some scars on my cheeks, but since going plant-based, those issues have cleared up completely.'
How did you make the switch?
'I rarely ate meat or fish, but dairy, eggs, and cheese were staples. During a study-abroad trip through Asia, plant-based meals were the norm. I naturally cut back on animal products, felt energized, and saw my skin improve. Back home, I went fully vegan—and the benefits stuck. Plus, it's far kinder to the planet.'
