Géke s Diet Journey Week 1: Conquering Oatmeal on The Best Diet in the World

Testing The Best Diet in the World for Santé, Géke faces her first challenge: oatmeal. She doesn't love it, but she's committed. Read her honest Week 1 blog.

Géke: Back from vacation, I received the book The Best Diet in the World. The initial shock? I "have to" eat oatmeal—I don't even stock it at home, and the thought makes me queasy. I'll give it time to sink in because I'm determined to follow through. Over the coming weeks, I'll share how this diet works for me.

The Shopping List
Creating a shopping list ensures I have everything ready for success. Lines at the store are still a hassle, but first things first: ditching the wine. That part will be easy. On Wednesday of Week 1, I stuck closely to the plan. Breakfast was late (oatmeal + 1 soft-boiled egg)—neither appealed to me. Lunch: a slice of wholemeal rye bread with hummus and smoked salmon. Delicious. Snack: oatmeal cookies with a dipping sauce.

A Pleasant Surprise
Those oatmeal cookies? Surprisingly tasty, packed with blueberries and brown basterd sugar. Who knew that fit a diet? It's making me rethink everything. Dinner was Dijon chicken from the oven with fresh vegetables, plus rice with apple and mint. Another winner.

Day by Day
The book emphasizes a high intake of protein and whole grains (low-GI carbs). That's the foundation, but I'm keeping it simple: following the daily recipes and tracking results.
