Dutch consumers prioritize personal choice. A recent online study by Porter Novelli and BrainJuicer shows a clear majority opposes government-mandated measures to promote healthy lifestyles.
The survey polled 600 consumers aged 18 to 65. Most agree that everyone's health is their own responsibility.
Proposals like a fat tax on overweight individuals draw strong opposition, with 69% firmly against. Views on advertising restrictions for unhealthy food are more divided: half support limits, a quarter remain undecided, and a quarter oppose them.
These findings echo 2007 results (83% agreement), with this year's figure steady at 88%.
