Kosmos Smart Helmet: Revolutionary Tech for Motorcycle Rider Safety

For motorcyclists, the rider truly embodies the machine. French startup Kosmos Smart Helmets (KSH) leverages this truth with its innovative smart helmet, backed by an upcoming crowdfunding campaign to deliver initial production by late 2020.

Elevated Protection for Riders

Motorcycles comprise just 2% of road traffic yet account for 43% of serious injuries and 22% of fatalities, per Road Safety data from 2017. Delayed emergency response or absent helmets often prove fatal. As detailed by Neozone on August 23, 2020, KSH's smart helmet introduces an advanced safety layer for bikers.

A standout feature is the prominent rear stop light, designed to alert trailing vehicles clearly. It also integrates voice assistance synced to the rider's smartphone app, providing real-time traffic insights.

First Units Slated for Year-End

KSH's premium model features patented fall detection technology. In a crash or unusual position, the app prompts the rider for response. Without reply, it notifies five emergency contacts with GPS coordinates, blood type, and medical details.

Launching on KissKissBankBank in September 2020, the campaign targets first 200 helmets with a €20,000 goal. Stretch funding at €150,000 unlocks add-ons like integrated cameras and custom liners. Priced at €600–1,200 depending on model, it's showcased at CES Las Vegas and Viva Technology Paris.

It is initially a question of a 20,000 euro step to produce the first 200 helmets . However, if the second level is crossed (150,000 euros), KSH will launch the production of accessories such as integrated cameras or even customizable foams. Presented at events such as the CES in Las Vegas (see video below) or the Viva Technology show in Paris, this futuristic helmet could appeal to some bikers.
