Tijn captured hearts worldwide in December 2016 with his inspiring 'Paint on' action from the Glass House during 3FM Serious Request. He raised over €2.5 million to treat children in Africa suffering from pneumonia. Now, facing terminal brain stem cancer himself, Tijn is launching one final campaign to help others like him. His goal: €1 million for the Semmy Foundation to bring a life-saving treatment machine to the Netherlands. Join the #lakdoor movement today.

It's inspiring to see Tijn pour his heart into giving other children a fighting chance. Each year, around 10 Dutch children like Tijn are diagnosed with brain stem cancer, or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Standard chemotherapy fails due to the blood-brain barrier, preventing drugs from reaching the tumor effectively.

Dr. Dannis van Vuurden, Tijn's pediatric oncologist at VUmc and a leading DIPG expert, explains: "One major challenge is that promising lab drugs can't reach the tumor. With €1 million, we can acquire and maintain the robot, enabling treatment for multiple DIPG children in a clinical study."
Tijn is determined to aid fellow brain stem cancer patients. He's launched his own nail polish collection in four favorite shades: pink, blue, purple, and red. Every euro raised goes to the Semmy Foundation to fund Convection-Enhanced Delivery (CED), a cutting-edge method offering hope where none existed.
