Resveratrol in Red Wine Inhibits Breast Cancer Cell Growth, Landmark Study Finds

Breakthrough research reveals that resveratrol, a beneficial compound in red wine, suppresses breast cancer cell growth.

Experts from Baylor College of Medicine in the U.S., alongside researchers from Italy's universities of Naples and Calabria, led this study, published in The FASEB Journal 2020.

Resveratrol, a natural compound found in the skins of blue grapes, blocks estrogen's growth-promoting effects on breast cancer cells. This finding holds significant promise for treating hormone therapy-resistant tumors.

Red wine is not a cure
While the results are exciting, study authors caution that breast cancer patients should not turn to red wine or resveratrol supplements as treatment. More research is needed to apply these insights clinically.
