During a lecture at Utrecht University, chemist Bert Weckhuysen explained that these tips are formulated to resist melting. Manufacturers adjust the fat composition using catalysts that convert unsaturated fats into saturated ones—but this process can also produce trans fats, turning healthy fats unhealthy.

Cornetto's Official Response
Unilever, maker of Cornetto, addressed the claims after their brand was referenced. While acknowledging the general process for trans fats is accurate, they confirm it doesn't apply to authentic Cornetto products—no trans fats are created in their production.
