Which approach offers the highest success rate?
A study of 697 smokers confirms that quitting cold turkey is the most effective method. While stopping smoking is challenging—with many relapsing within six months—the data is clear.
Among those who quit abruptly, one in five (20%) remained smoke-free after six months. In contrast, only one in seven (~14%) who gradually reduced their intake succeeded.
Key insight: Most smokers prefer tapering off before quitting entirely. Yet, even they achieved better results by stopping all at once.
