If you enjoy alcoholic drinks regularly, strawberries could be your stomach's best friend. Research shows they significantly reduce alcohol's harmful effects on the gastric lining.
A team of researchers from Italy, Serbia, and Spain discovered that strawberries safeguard the stomach lining. Sara Tulipani, a researcher at the University of Barcelona, explains: "Strawberries help activate antioxidants and enzymes in the body."
Alcohol's Impact on the Stomach
Beyond viral infections and certain medications, excessive alcohol can trigger inflammation of the stomach lining. According to the study, a strawberry-rich diet delays stomach ulcer formation.
The researchers also note that strawberries can prevent damage to the stomach membrane and reduce harm during illness.
