According to the British Health Council, the average cutting board contains fifty times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
They're invisible, but bacteria thrive on countertops, dishcloths, and especially cutting boards. Wooden ones are prime culprits: repeated cutting carves pits and grooves, making it harder to clean thoroughly over time.
For top hygiene, wash your cutting board immediately after use. To truly eradicate bacteria, sprinkle a handful of sea salt across the surface. Squeeze the juice from half a lemon over it, rub the lemon into the salt, then rinse well and dry completely.
