A survey by Vallenaf.nl reveals that 75% of Dutch people pursuing weight loss worry about gaining pounds during the holidays.
The holidays are a joy, filled with delectable food, drinks, and cherished time with family and friends. Most Dutch anticipate the festivities but recognize the challenge ahead.
A large majority struggle to resist Christmas treats, as well as tempting oliebollen and champagne. This is underscored by the fact that 72% of respondents consider food and drink an essential part of the celebrations.
Strikingly, few take proactive steps to prevent weight gain; 83% admit to relaxing their diets during this period. Yet, three-quarters fear the indulgences will add 1 to 5 kilos. Beyond the food, reduced exercise during the holidays contributes significantly.
Despite these concerns, 14% plan to fully embrace the festivities and address any gains in January.
