Cancer Survivors Face Nearly 40% Higher Unemployment Worldwide: Key Study Insights

A groundbreaking study from the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam reveals that unemployment rates among adult cancer survivors are nearly 40% higher globally compared to healthy adults.

Researchers found that survivors of stomach or intestinal cancers, breast cancer, or gynecological cancers face particular challenges in securing employment or retaining jobs.

The AMC team, collaborating with Finnish experts, reviewed data from 36 international studies comparing adult cancer survivors to healthy individuals.

Breast Cancer in the Netherlands
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the Netherlands, followed by colon, lung, prostate, and skin cancers. These five types account for nearly two-thirds of all new cases.
