Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day

You've probably heard it all your life:"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day". It makes sense, right? If we want energy for everything we do in a day, we need to fuel our bodies. If your goal is to shed a few extra pounds, we should skip breakfast, according to new research. Previous studies have suggested that eating a large meal in the morning curbs our appetite throughout the day, helping us lose weight.

But a new study suggests that "the most important meal of the day" may not help people control their weight. Researchers have determined that there is no good evidence to support the idea that eating breakfast promotes weight loss — or that skipping breakfast leads to weight gain. The findings show that daily calorie intake was higher in people who ate breakfast and that skipping breakfast later in the day did not increase appetite, even when they expended the same amount of energy as people who ate a morning meal.
