ALS Netherlands Foundation Launches No Time to Lose Campaign to Accelerate Research into Deadly Disease

The ALS Netherlands Foundation's latest campaign shifts the spotlight to relatives sharing their heartfelt stories. 'No Time to Lose' launches on March 2, aimed at raising vital funds for research into this devastating, incurable disease.

'No Time to Lose' poignantly highlights the precious limited time patients have with family and loved ones after diagnosis.

Limited Time Left

Marianne van den Eijnden shares how her son Nicky, who will turn 33 when ALS claims his life, leaves behind two young children. Marjan and the ALS Netherlands Foundation believe it's time for bold action. A decade after the impactful 'I Have Died' campaign brought ALS into the spotlight, the foundation is reigniting awareness with this compelling new initiative.

Urgent Research Needs

The campaign's title also underscores the critical need for faster research into ALS causes and effective treatments.

"The clock is ticking," says ALS Netherlands Foundation director Gorrit-Jan Blonk. "Last year's cancellation of fundraising events slashed revenues by 50%. Scientific breakthroughs depend on donations—we aim to save lives, and the sooner we develop a medicine, the better."

Beyond research, the foundation enhances quality of life for patients and families. Rapid access to specialized ALS care is essential in the face of shrinking timeframes.

Exclusive Commemorative Coin

To fuel the campaign, a unique commemorative coin will be minted on March 28—the start of daylight saving time, when we all 'lose' an hour. Partnering with the Royal Dutch Mint, the specially designed coin is available for pre-registration at https://knm.nl/ALS. Limited to just 5,000 pieces, it's a collector's gem for supporters and enthusiasts alike.
