Marie-Anne: I’ve lost count of the hours I’ve spent with my physiotherapist—often more time than with my husband.
No Nonsense, Just Results
Over the past few years, I’ve dedicated countless sessions to machines that knead my knees and exercises that leave me speechless. My therapist, a true Amsterdam local guided by the Rotterdam motto 'Don’t talk, just get to work!' cuts through any fluff. No time for complaints or false sympathy here. You might arrive frustrated, but expect to train hard, push through, and keep going. He lightens the mood with a well-timed joke, upbeat music, and a perfect cup of coffee. He motivates relentlessly, collaborates thoughtfully, stays eternally optimistic, and often draws wisdom from his idol, Johan Cruyff.
Treating Seniors with Respect Seniors, who fill the therapy room, get straight talk but always with respect. As the saying goes, 'Gentle surgeons make festering wounds.' He might quip, 'Pancake, is your wife thrilled for an hour without you?' before diving in with professional passion. My physio’s presence fills the room; without him, it feels empty. He shares clear opinions openly, sings along, demonstrates exercises, and voices his worldview. Yet he listens deeply when it matters most.
Match 14: His New Venture
With this infectious enthusiasm, drive, and expertise, my physio is launching his own clinic, Match 14—inspired by Johan Cruyff. He pours passion into every detail, supporting elite athletes and everyday enthusiasts alike. From the logo and layout to the business plan, nothing is overlooked. It’s a perfect fit for him—he demands the best for his patients and makes sure everyone knows it.
Incomplete Without Him
Recently, I hosted a small sushi gathering in my garden for my closest supporters: 15 women and one man—my physio. He arrived cautiously, bringing his son for backup amid the estrogen overload. For once, he was quiet. But his presence made the evening complete; it wouldn’t have been the same without him.
