Misunderstandings about meat substitutes

Are plant-based meat substitutes a full-fledged alternative to meat?

The answer is yes. From a nutritional point of view, vegetable meat substitutes are a full-fledged alternative to meat. Yet many people think that it is not so.

Favorite meat substitutes
People who do not eat meat prefer to replace meat with substitutes with fish (62 percent), eggs (43 percent) and cheese (28 percent). Less favorite are vegetable meat substitutes with legumes or nuts.

Nutrients
People who always eat meat think they are not getting enough nutrients. Of those who occasionally replace meat, a significant number believe that plant-based alternatives are not full-fledged. While that's not true, a varied menu without meat provides more than enough protein and nutrients.

Eat less meat?
70% of meat eaters have never considered cutting back on meat. Many consider a meal without meat to be incomplete.
