More than 40 percent of healthcare workers are prepared to take on extra shifts amid high absenteeism from the swine flu (also known as Mexican flu), according to studies by employment agencies Medjob and Zorgwerk.
This includes roles outside their own facilities via the Grieppool. To date, registrations break down as 46 percent nurses/carers, 13 percent medical staff, and 41 percent support personnel.
Established as a contribution to continuity of care, the Grieppool helps institutions manage staff shortages. Former workers, including retirees, provide invaluable support to keep affected facilities operational.
