Health experts agree: masks play a key role in protecting against coronavirus transmission.
With masks still hard to find in stores or online, a simple homemade alternative can bridge the gap.
Discover this quick tutorial shared by Professor Daniel Garin from Paris' Val-de-Grâce Hospital.
- 1 paper towel
- 2 rubber bands
- 1 stapler
1. Wash your hands thoroughly using proper technique.
2. Fully unfold the paper towel.
3. Fold the towel lengthwise into an accordion shape.
4. Position a rubber band at each end.
5. Fold the ends over and staple securely.

You now have a simple anti-coronavirus mask made from a paper towel. Quick, easy, and effective—no sewing machine or fabric required.
While not as robust as an FFP2 mask, it's far better than no protection. It shields you from droplets from those around you, ideal for essential trips like grocery shopping.
Professor Daniel Garin of Val-de-Grâce Hospital explains: "This mask doesn't filter air but acts as a barrier to block virus spread via respiratory droplets. It's absorbent and waterproof, preventing contamination."
Important: This is single-use—replace it once damp. For kids, try kitchen roll paper towels instead.
