Couples massage relieves stress

Giving your partner a massage can improve both his and your well-being, new research concludes. 38 participants completed a three-week massage course, and assessed their well-being through pre- and post-massage questionnaires covering eight areas of physical and mental well-being, stress, coping with all types of ongoing stressors and relationship satisfaction. The couples' well-being, perceived stress and coping with stressors were positively influenced by the massage course, and none of these effects were significantly reduced at three-week follow-up after the end of the reporting period. Couples also found that their physical and emotional well-being was significantly improved after each massage session. Of the couples who took part in the study, 91 percent said they would recommend mutual massage to their friends and family.
