Start of breast cancer month:Corendon plane turns pink throughout breast cancer

From today (1 October) until the end of October, the Boeing 747 at the Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam (next to the A9) will be shrouded in pink light. Traditionally, objects around the world are highlighted in pink at the start of breast cancer month, to draw attention to breast cancer.

“For the whole month of October, our prominent aircraft in the garden of the Corendon Village Hotel will be highlighted in pink to draw attention to the importance of Pink Ribbon and the need to be able to fund its important studies,” said Martin de Boer, Director Marketing Corendon Hotels.

In addition, numerous campaigns are organized to draw attention to breast cancer and to raise money for breast cancer research. Visit www.pinkribbon.nl for more information.

Figures on breast cancer
More breast cancer research is still desperately needed. In the Netherlands, 1 in 7 women is diagnosed with breast cancer. That is more than 17,000 women every year. Although the chances of survival are improving, more than 3,000 women still die each year from the effects of the disease. Men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer.
