Staying happy and in shape is an appealing goal, but it's a real challenge for me. I resist being overly strict about snacking, yet here I am battling another sugar rush. Sound familiar? I often come up with solid plans for a healthier lifestyle, only for them to derail. Culprits? A lack of discipline, a hectic schedule, enjoying life a bit too much, and the demands of motherhood.
Nynke's recent hilarious blog on postpartum body struggles hit home—I've been there, done that. How many times have I started down the path to a 'happy in shape' body, full of optimism? Too many to count.

For me, feeling happy in shape means feeling good in your own skin. You don't need to be ultra-slim (though I'd welcome it! 😜). It's about vitality, fitness, and energy. No evening exhaustion, even after chasing kids all day or powering through work. It's about feeling beautiful as you are.
That's my aim. When I achieve it, everything improves—productivity soars. I love that.
But how? Lately, I've faced the opposite: long work hours, evening wine, and an ever-empty candy drawer.
Sports sessions are the first casualty under pressure, like tight deadlines or family stresses around my son Luc's school advice. I vow to exercise regularly... then weeks later, I skip it for more tasks, opting for wine instead.
During busy times, I turn to sweets for comfort (classic, right?) and wine as a mom. Evening work pairs perfectly with a glass.
Life gets in the way too—injuries cut my running, and I dislike structured gym classes like Fit30. Time constraints make me quit fast. I'm a solo exerciser who needs flexibility, not gym hours or school schedules.
Runner's high? Not for me. I exercise out of duty, not joy. Yet I know better shape brings energy, mindful eating, and enjoyment. Theory is clear; practice, less so.
I fare better in summer—warmer weather prompts healthier eats and more water. But this year, the scale reads 73 kg. Energy is priority one, but weight needs addressing. Time for a boost!
Modifast invited me to test their new Modifast Protein Shape products. Yes, please! 😊
I got shakes, bars, and cookies. Protein milkshake for lunch (with salad), chocolate bar mid-morning, chocolate chip cookie with coffee—sounds sustainable.
Goal: Ditch sugar rushes, gain steady energy. Eat normally with more veggies (we already eat well), feel fit, energized, and curb that snack appetite—the real enemy.
Sweets trigger endless cravings and guilt. I want freedom, for me and my teen son who's grabbing sugars too often. Candy drawer overhaul starts now.
An initial boost: reduced cravings, guilt-free chocolate enjoyment, fading sugar rush, controlled eating. Bonus: minimal time commitment! 😜
Join me! Check Modifast's website for details. Available at drugstores or online (I prefer online to dodge judgmental stares 😊). Speaking of pressure...
