Healthy and under 60? Probably vaccinated for the summer

If you are healthy and under 60, you have to wait a little longer before it is your turn to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. But if all goes well, you will be eligible for a vaccine before the summer.

AD.nl reports that healthy Dutch people under the age of 60 will receive a vaccine earlier than expected. According to government figures, this could already happen before the summer or else in the summer.

Not sure yet

Unfortunately, it cannot be said with certainty yet, because it depends on whether all six vaccines that the Netherlands has bought make it to the finish line. “In addition, you still have to check whether each vaccine is suitable for every target group and whether the deliveries that are currently planned are actually being made. And the fact that you receive a vaccine does not mean that everyone is immediately vaccinated," said a spokesperson.

Hope

But there is also hope that it will work before summer:

  • Vaccination is not mandatory, for example. There are many who doubt and so there may be doses left for others.
  • Then there is the Janssen vaccine, which is the only vaccine manufacturer hoping to come out with a dose of one shot instead of two. If that happens, twice as many people could be vaccinated in the second quarter of 2021.
