Diederik Gommers, chairman of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care, is gaining massive traction on Instagram. By sharing a fun, festive photo from his younger days, he's connecting with young people to encourage adherence to the latest COVID-19 measures.
He captioned the image: "I was young too, I know how beautiful it is to celebrate. And we ask quite a bit of the young people. Still, I really hope everyone will stick to the measures. I am therefore pleased with the government's proposal: approach it more fanatically so that we can get rid of it faster."

"Last night I was on duty and saw the crowds. There were simply not enough beds in our hospital, so people had to spend the night in the Emergency Room. Together we can do this!"
As a frequent TV commentator on the severity of COVID-19, Gommers has appeared in numerous talk shows over the past six months. Recently, he teamed up with rapper Famke Louise for a media campaign targeting youth. His Instagram account, launched for this purpose, now boasts over 300,000 followers.
