The Trimbos Institute identifies numerous harmful compounds in e-cigarette vapor, including nicotine, propylene glycol, and trace amounts of toxic and carcinogenic substances that can adversely impact health.
While the full extent of long-term health damage—such as lung diseases, cardiovascular issues, and cancer—may take decades to emerge, the institute recommends against promoting e-cigarette use to mitigate potential risks.
State Secretary Blokhuis has notified the House of Representatives of initial measures to curb e-cigarette use and is evaluating further actions.
