Anyone Can Safely Use an AED to Save Lives

Among Dutch adults without first aid training, fewer than one in three feel ready to use an AED during a cardiac emergency. The Red Cross views this as deeply concerning—especially since anyone can operate an AED with confidence.

Emergency dispatchers provide clear voice guidance, and most AEDs deliver spoken instructions step-by-step. In contrast, 75% of those trained in first aid are prepared to perform CPR.

Boosted Survival Odds
The Heart Foundation reports that 35 people die daily from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Starting CPR within six minutes can increase survival chances by nearly 50%.
