Tips against chapped hands

Tips against chapped hands

Cracks in your hands can be caused by a skin problem such as eczema or psoriasis, but even when it's cold outside and the air inside is dry, some people are more prone to cracks in the fingers or knuckles.

What is a skin gap?

A chasm is a cracked piece of skin. If your skin is dry, your skin is less elastic and this can sometimes cause a tear. With dry hands and various skin conditions you will suffer from it faster.

Stubborn chaps

Fissures in the hands often heal with difficulty. Every time you move your hand, a fissure can burst open again. Furthermore, your hands come into contact with corrosive substances, from soap and cleaning agent to the juice of vegetables and fruit when you are cutting them.

Tips against chapped hands

Unfortunately, there are no miracle cures for chapping. You can't do much more than the obvious:

  1. Protect your hands. Wear gloves when you are outside and put on cleaning gloves when cleaning.
  2. Apply a greasy cream about six times a day. Apply an extra layer before going to sleep so that the skin can recover as much as possible during the night. You can put on cotton gloves so that the cream can absorb well.
  3. Use an oil while showering to care for your skin.
  4. Keep off the cracks and scabs, picking at them will not promote healing.
  5. Make sure that the humidity in the house remains at the right level. In winter, the air dries faster. You do this by ventilating enough and possibly placing containers filled with water on the heating.
  6. This is how you take care of your dry hands.
