Barbecues Are Getting Healthier: More Veggies, Lean Meats, and Shared Prep in the Netherlands

Healthy Grilling Trends
As the weather warms up, barbecues are firing up more frequently across the Netherlands. Gone are the days of just large cuts of meat—today, grills feature healthier, more varied options like vegetables and lean proteins. While barbecuing remains largely a men's domain, 50% of women contribute to the preparations.

Cozy Outdoor Gatherings
Over a third of Dutch people report barbecuing more often in the last two years, averaging twice a month. The top reason? It's simply cozy. Just 6% cite the act of grilling itself as their favorite part.

Rising Popularity of Lean Choices
A whopping 42% say they'd grill more if cleanup weren't an issue. Vegetables and lean meats are gaining traction in this cooking method, though only 5% have tried pizza on the grill.
