Dutch Families Yearn for More Morning Quality Time: Key Insights from Kellogg s Research

Dutch families crave more quality time in the mornings, with 69% feeling pressed for time during weekdays. These findings come from a TNS NIPO study commissioned by breakfast expert Kellogg's.

The research delved into morning rituals and breakfast habits among Dutch families. It revealed that 69% struggle with time shortages, leaving little room for leisurely breakfasts or newspaper reading—essentials for meaningful family moments.

For families with children up to age 12, morning rushes are even more intense. Top culprits include getting kids dressed or oversleeping. Among those who snooze their alarms, 63% hit it multiple times. Yet, breakfast remains non-negotiable: 80% of families eat it every weekday.

Rushed routines
A quick breakfast is the norm, averaging just 10 minutes to prepare. Half of families devour theirs in 9 minutes or less.

Meals often multitask with reading, TV, or prepping lunches for others—only 16% focus solely on eating. This sidelines the calm, shared breakfast that parents and kids love most.

Try setting your alarm 15 minutes earlier—especially as winter time approaches—for those precious family moments.
