Research from NIPED, a leading organization dedicated to preventive healthcare, reveals that one in eight seemingly healthy Dutch people harbors an undetected elevated risk for serious conditions like diabetes, cancer, or heart disease.
NIPED findings show that when informed about their health status, a significant number of people are eager to adopt healthier lifestyles, resulting in better overall health and fewer illnesses, according to the institute.
NIPED strongly advocates including biannual medical examinations in basic health insurance. "Just like dentists routinely check our teeth, doctors should regularly monitor our health so individuals can make timely lifestyle adjustments," a spokesperson explains.
The Dutch government recognizes preventive healthcare as essential for keeping costs down. Preventing illnesses tied to unhealthy behaviors could yield substantial savings for society.
