A recent clinical study shows that substituting refined carbohydrates with fresh avocados in meals significantly curbs hunger and enhances meal satisfaction among overweight and obese adults.
This research explored the physiological effects of whole or semi-fresh avocados on hunger, fullness, and satisfaction over six hours. In a randomized crossover trial with 31 overweight and obese adults, the changes also blunted insulin and blood glucose spikes, lowering diabetes and cardiovascular risks through added healthy fats and fiber in daily diets.
Avocado meals not only reduced hunger and increased satisfaction but also elevated levels of the gut hormone PYY, a key regulator of appetite responses.
