Sleep well with warm skin

Sleep well with warm skin

When your skin is slightly warmed up, you fall asleep faster, sleep deeper and sleep longer.

It has been known for some time that your body temperature and the warmth of your sleeping environment can influence your sleep. Research is being carried out at the Free University into specifically the warmth of the skin.

How about that?
Sleep is regulated in the hypothalamus. This area in your brain not only regulates sleep but also regulates your body temperature. When the skin is warm, it sends a signal to the brain that promotes sleep. Conversely, cool skin makes you more alert.

In practice
The research was carried out with special pajamas to influence the temperature of the skin. The pajamas are not suitable for wearing every night, but who knows, maybe in the future a mattress or duvet will be developed that directs the heat away from the skin.
