As of this week, patients can view the publicly accessible BIG register. Why would you do that? Because you can find out if your healthcare provider has ever been punished.

The Dutch patient federation NPCF fully supports this measure. That fines, reprimands and professional bans from the Medical Disciplinary Court now can be viewed, it only seems to be good for the trust between doctor and patient. It will also be stated why a penalty has been imposed. Previously, rulings of the disciplinary committee were anonymized.
Against
Not everyone agrees with the new state of affairs. KNMG doctors' federation is opposed to the mention of punishments, but agrees to this down. This also applies to the professional association of nurses and carers (V&VN). Their reason is only that they are afraid that caregivers will pay for a single mistake for life.
