Harvard Study Links Higher Red Meat Intake to Increased Cancer and Heart Disease Mortality

A landmark study from Harvard Medical School reveals that greater red meat consumption significantly raises the risk of premature death.

Researchers examined data from 37,698 men followed from 1986 to 2008 and 83,644 women from 1980 to 2008. The analysis showed that red meat intake heightens mortality risk from cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Adding one daily serving of unprocessed red meat increases cardiovascular death risk by 18% and cancer risk by 10%. Processed red meat poses even greater dangers.

Key factors include saturated fats in red meat contributing to heart issues and high sodium levels that elevate blood pressure and cardiovascular strain, per the Harvard findings.
