Should You Vaccinate Before Your Vacation? Insights from Dutch Traveler Survey

Nearly half of Dutch holidaymakers who traveled to Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, or Croatia last year skipped vaccinations, according to a TNS NIPO survey commissioned by travel health experts at Gezond Op Reis.

Common reasons include not seeing the necessity or viewing costs as too high. What's more, four in ten Dutch travelers are unaware if their health insurer covers vaccination expenses.

Vaccination uptake varies by destination: 73% for Egypt, 62% for Morocco, 54% for Turkey, and only 39% for Croatia.

Often Reimbursed
A third of those who get vaccinated choose the hepatitis A and B combination. Travelers with supplementary insurance usually qualify for full or partial reimbursement of essential travel vaccinations.
