This Experiment Shows Children How Important Handwashing is.

Sometimes a good example is worth more than words!

Especially when it comes to explaining something to children.

The proof:this is exactly what a teacher did to show her students the importance of washing their hands!

And the least we can say is that the result is simply AMAZING!

What makes his little experiment so amazing?

As you will see, it is its clarity and simplicity:a perfect example!

That's why we too have decided to share it with you today.

Here is the experiment that shows children how important it is to wash their hands . Watch:

Jaralee Metcalf is a school teacher in the United States.

At the beginning of last winter, she took it into her head to teach her students how bacteria work.

The flu season had just started…

And we had to find an easy way to show children the importance of hand washing to kill bacteria.

But how do you explain to children how bacteria spread?

Jaralee Metcalf has found a very simple activity to do in class with her students…

By using sandwich bread!

The teacher asked the children in her class to touch 5 pieces of bread from the same package.

These slices of bread were touched and manipulated by:

- Hands washed with soap and hot water .

- Hands washed with hydroalcoholic gel.

- unwashed hands .

- Rubbed on a computer keyboard notebook.

- Gloves to avoid contaminating the slice (and to use as a "control").

All these slices of bread were put in individual plastic bags.

The teacher then hung the bags on the wall.

And she left the slices of bread aside for 1 month .

This way the children could see how the bacteria react over time.

The result is shocking! Here are the disgusting photos:

Slice placed on a computer keyboard

1 month has passed, and this is what the slice looked like rubbed on a computer keyboard.

This is the worst result of the whole experiment:the bread is literally covered with mold. Yuck!

As Jaralee Metcalf explains, it shows the importance of disinfecting keyboards laptops.

Of course, the keyboard used for this experiment was not disinfected.

By the way, if you don't know it yet, here is the best tip for cleaning and disinfecting a dirty keyboard.

Slice touched by hands washed with hot water and soap

The "witness" slice is the one to the right of the photo above.

That is, the edge that has been touched with gloves, to avoid any contamination.

And, as you'd expect, it doesn't show any signs of mold.

So you guess the only other slice of bread that remained intact ?

It is the one touched by properly washed hands:with hot water and soap.

What better example to show children why they should wash their hands regularly?

Slice touched by dirty hands

Wow, no explanation needed!

In just 1 month, the "dirty hands" edge was covered with spectacular mold .

According to the teacher, this result made her students realize the importance of washing their hands. You too?

Slice touched by hands washed with hydroalcoholic gel

Here is by far the most interesting result of this experiment.

It turns out that the slice touched by hands washed with hydroalcoholic gel also has bacteria!

As you can see, this is A+B proof…

Disinfectant gel does not replace good hand washing with warm water and soap!

Conclusion

Jaralee Metcalf shared the results of his little experiment on Facebook.

She asks parents to show it to their children and teach them how to wash their hands properly.

Since then, his little project has traveled the world and been replicated in hundreds of schools.

What surprised us the most was the piece of bread touched for hands washed with hydroalcoholic gel!

And you ? How do you teach your children to wash their hands correctly and frequently ?
