Hair Loss: A Taboo Affecting Over Half of Dutch Adults

Over half of Dutch people experience hair loss, yet most avoid expert advice and remain uninformed about causes or effective treatments.

These findings emerge from the national Hair Loss Survey of more than 1,000 Dutch men and women, commissioned by the Dutch Hair Foundation and Van Montfort Laboratories, producers of the proven hair growth serum Esthecin.

Hair Loss: A Nightmare Especially for Women

Six in ten men and one-third of women report hair loss. For 58% of women, it's a nightmare—compared to 19% of men. Daily insecurity and gloom affect 10% of men and one-third of women. One in 12 men and one in seven women keep it secret. Strikingly, 87% use no treatments, while 2% seek psychological help.

Key Causes

In men, hair loss stems mainly from hormones (90%), with other factors in 10%. For women, common triggers include hormones (44%), medication (27%), age (24%), stress (4%), and other causes (1%).
