Master the Proven 6-Step Hand Washing Technique for Better Hygiene

Regular handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent bacterial spread. However, doing it right requires more than a quick rinse—research shows many of us fall short.

The Most Effective Handwashing Method
A study of hospital staff compared a basic three-step technique to a comprehensive six-step method. The six-step approach proved far superior, removing more germs despite taking up to 25% longer.

Follow These 6 Proven Steps to Wash Your Hands Properly:

  1. Form a cupped hand and dispense soap into it, then spread between both hands.
  2. Rub palms together thoroughly.
  3. Interlock fingers to scrub between them.
  4. Clasp hands and rub the back of each with the opposing palm.
  5. Grip one thumb with the other hand and rotate to clean it fully; repeat for the opposite thumb.
  6. Clasp fingers together and rotate to scrub backs of fingers; switch hands.
