The National Heat Plan activated earlier this week, and now the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is warning of incoming smog.
Today and tomorrow, RIVM anticipates moderate ozone smog. This poses risks especially to children, individuals with sensitive airways, and those engaging in prolonged outdoor exercise, potentially leading to health complaints.
Key advice: RIVM recommends that children and people with respiratory conditions stay indoors as much as possible during this period. It's also advisable to avoid strenuous physical activity.
Relief is on the horizon for Saturday, with chances of rain or thunderstorms. Westerly winds are expected to usher in cleaner air, dispersing the smog.
