Expert Technique for Gentle, Efficient Eye Makeup Removal

Removing eye makeup can feel more challenging than cleansing the rest of your face. We've all skipped it at night, only to wake up with smudged 'panda eyes' staring back from the mirror—startling enough to ruin your morning.

"Who is that zombie? Poor thing!" Then reality hits: it's your reflection. Ouch! To prevent this morale-dampening mishap, here's a proven two-step method for flawless eye makeup removal—no tugging at eyelids or losing lashes.

This approach also conserves your remover and cotton pads. With the right product and gentle motions, you minimize waste while protecting delicate skin.

Select the ideal makeup remover.

Opt for a biphasic lotion with a lightweight, non-irritating oil—perfect for sensitive eyes. You can make your own or find affordable options at any store.

Step-by-step application:

Slightly dampen a cotton pad with the lotion. Close your eye and gently place the pad on your lid. Avoid excess product, which can drip and sting, or too little, which causes friction and irritation. No need to press hard.

Wait a few seconds for the formula to dissolve mascara, eyeliner, and shadows. Then glide the pad from inner to outer corner.

Repeat until clean—typically two passes suffice for everyday makeup.

Care for the eye area.

If you have fine lines or dark circles, follow with a dedicated eye contour cream. Otherwise, let the area rest overnight. Eyelid and under-eye skin is exceptionally thin, so steer clear of rich facial products here. Night creams, for instance, can migrate through the skin and irritate your eyes, leading to redness, puffiness, or watering. This rule applies to all facial treatments—your eyes deserve special consideration.
