Update: Less than 24 hours after authorizing the smartphone version, the government updated the rules. The March 24, 2020 version requires a paper certificate—download and print here. Without a printer, handwrite it on plain paper.
Since Tuesday, March 17 at 12 p.m., all of France has been under lockdown and must stay home.
To leave home—even for bread—you need a completed exit certificate.
Typically, this means downloading and printing it.
What if you lack a printer?
Luckily, there's a simple, legal workaround to generate it directly on your phone.
All you need is one free app:
1. Download the Adobe Fill & Sign app on your Android here or iPhone here.
2. From your smartphone, download the PDF certificate template from the government site here and save it.
3. Open the app, tap "Select a form to fill out", then "File Explorer".
4. Choose the downloaded document.
5. Tap the first line to add a text field and enter your first and last name.
6. Repeat for date of birth and address on the next lines.
7. Tap next to your reason for travel, then select the checkbox.
8. Tap the pen icon at the bottom, then "Create Signature". Draw your signature with your finger and tap "Done".
9. Place your signature in the bottom-right corner.
10. Add your location and today's date, then tap "Done".
Your travel certificate is ready—no printer needed! :-) Fast, easy, and reusable.
Simply edit the date for next time. Adjust font sizes or reposition checkboxes as needed in the app.
The Ministry of the Interior states the certificate is "downloadable"—no rule against showing a PDF on your phone.
They confirmed "the digital smartphone version is accepted".
The National Gendarmerie validated it in a tweet.
