I love wearing red lipstick when going out!
The problem is that I can't stand store-bought lipsticks...
They dry my lips and burn me.
Probably because they contain products with names that are impossible to pronounce!
So, of course, I decided to make my own lipstick with the trendy colors of the moment.
Don't worry, this natural homemade lipstick recipe is quick and easy to make . Watch:
Be aware that I tried homemade colored lip balms first but the color was not dark and matte enough for me.
I then tested a large variety of different dyes, and it was the red clay from the Australian reef that satisfied me the most. The color is bright and deep and is exactly what I was looking for.
I started with a simple recipe including shea butter and avocado oil, for their moisturizing qualities.
For the coloring I chose to put clay. And more specifically, deep red clay.
I mix it with a few drops of peppermint essential oil until I get a thick, oily red mixture. Then I poured it into empty lipstick tubes.
Here is the easy-to-make recipe in detail:
- 4 g of beeswax
- 7 g of shea butter
- 4 g of cocoa butter
- 10 g avocado oil
- 2 teaspoons Australian Red Reef Clay
- 5 to 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
1. Melt the beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter and avocado oil over low heat in a small saucepan.
2. Gently stir in the red clay and essential oil, while stirring.
3. Keep swirling gently so that all the ingredients are well mixed.
4. Pour the resulting mixture into the empty tubes.
And There you go ! You made your own lipstick in minutes :-)
Easy, fast and natural, right?
In any case me, it's exactly the color that I love! And I can tell you that I only put more than that.
No more dry lips that burn me! My lips love it and so do I.
It is best to apply this lipstick with a brush because the color is so intense and matte that you have to be careful.
- You can adapt the color by choosing the clays or ocher powders you want, and mixing them to your liking.
- If you don't want to use Australian clay, you can use Provence red clay. It is just as effective but a little less coloring.
- Remember to store your homemade lipstick in a cool, dry place.
