Microsoft is training France's inaugural cohort of data and AI specialists in healthcare. This new school at Nancy's CHRU aims to harness AI to transform patient care and diagnostics.
Announced by Microsoft on February 13, 2020, this marks the 13th Microsoft AI School powered by Simplon in France—and the first dedicated to health. Hosted at Nancy's CHRU and funded by the Grand Est region, it partners with Simplon, a leading French startup in programming and digital training.
Bernard Dupont, Director General of Nancy CHRU, shared: "Deploying artificial intelligence concretely across hospital activities is a core strategic priority for the CHRU of Nancy […]. As France's only such initiative, located in a hospital and centered on health, this school provides essential resources to fuel our AI and digital momentum, serving the broader region’s economic, research, and development needs."
Like its predecessors, this school drives economic growth and innovation while nurturing top talent. It will train 24 professionals in healthcare-specific AI challenges, equipping them to enhance clinical skills, diagnostic accuracy, medical follow-up precision, and patient experiences.
Core training themes include health data processing, caregiver performance optimization, and care pathway improvements. Participants undergo 7 months of intensive training at Nancy CHRU, followed by a 12-month professionalization contract with regional companies.
Microsoft also recently backed DreamWalker, a project enabling safe virtual reality navigation in real-world settings.
