These will be the sports trends of 2022

Last year was all about staying fit, active and above all healthy. During the lockdowns, the Dutch started to play sports online en masse and with the new year in sight, more and more people are working on developing a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Of course we are happy to take that habit with us to 2022!

Looking ahead to the new year, OneFit, the largest sports and fitness platform in the Netherlands, predicts the five sports trends of 2022.

Padel is here to stay

Working out indoors, getting back on the road with your sports buddy and discovering new sports brought a lot of fun last year. In this way many Dutch people discovered Padel; a sport that is already extremely popular in countries such as Spain and Portugal. The sport consists of a mix between tennis and squash. It is generally played 2 against 2 on a court with 4 glass walls. The use of walls around the track gives the game an extra dimension. An absolute must-try in the coming year!

Boost your energy with indoor cycling

At the end of the year, indoor cycling was one of the most upcoming sports and OneFit predicts that the popularity of indoor cycling will only increase in 2022. To motivating music you cycle yourself fit, alone or together with your workout buddy. You are guaranteed to get an extreme energy boost from this wonderful workout!

Holistic sports:a mix of wellness and multisport

Also in the new year, self-care (in the form of yoga or meditation) will continue to play an important part in our sports routines. The combination of sport and wellness is the ideal combination to work on your physical and mental health. When doing holistic sports, you focus not only on your body, but also on your mindset and emotions. Sports such as Booty &Boxing and HIIT workouts with cycling or rowing, but also freezing and massages are indispensable in 2021!

HIIT is hot

Sweating in the gym, not thinking about anything and blasting your heart rate up in a HIIT workout:it's addictive. A 'High Intensity Interval Training' lasts on average between 20 and 40 minutes and is the perfect workout to do before, during or after work. Partly because the workouts are short and powerful, OneFit predicts that HIIT will become one of the most booming workout routines in 2022!

24/7 Sports:individual training has priority

In a future that is becoming increasingly hybrid, flexible sports cannot be left behind. For example, exercising during working hours is a must; taking a break or clearing your head after lunch is essential. Online classes will continue to be a success in 2022. In the future, we will choose where, when and with whom we want to exercise. Also during working hours!
