Celebrities Embracing Vegan Diets: Meghan Markle, Ariana Grande, and More Share Why

From environmental concerns and health benefits to compassion for animals, these A-list stars have made veganism a key part of their lives—drawing from their own interviews and experiences.

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle describes herself as a part-time vegan. In a 2016 Best Health interview, she explained: “I try to eat vegan during the week, and then I'm a little more flexible on the weekends.”

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande, a passionate animal lover, follows a vegan diet. In a 2014 chat with The Mirror, she said: “I love animals, even more than people. But I do find it difficult when I go out to eat. I then stick to what I know – vegetables, fruit and salad. When I'm home, I eat something else.”

Alicia Silverstone

Actress Alicia Silverstone went vegan three years after filming Clueless. Sharing with Oprah Winfrey, she noted: “I always had that white spot on my nails and my nails were very brittle. Now they are strong and I can barely bend them. The whites of my eyes have also become really white and I have the feeling that I look less puffy.”

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson has been a dedicated vegan for years. “Veganism is more than just choosing not to eat animal products. It's much bigger than that. Vegan is about saving animals, yourself, our society and our planet!”

Ellen DeGeneres

Comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres went vegan in 2008. In a 2012 Yahoo interview, she reflected: “I am a huge animal lover and yet I ate them. Something snapped in me” upon learning about chicken and meat production. In her recent Netflix special Relatable, she shared some flexibility: “Sometimes I eat a little fish or I eat eggs from chickens that I know will thrive in the backyard.”

Michelle Pfeiffer

Actress Michelle Pfeiffer credits her vegan diet with enhancing her appearance. “A vegan diet is much healthier and you avoid ingesting all kinds of toxic substances that can age your face and body faster. I have really noticed a difference in my skin after going vegan.”
